Basic Homemade Lemonade is a recipe everyone should be familiar with. It tastes so much better than the store-bought stuff, plus it’s much tastier. You just need a few simple ingredients and in no time you have the ideal summer refresher and a blank canvas to add fruit, syrups, alcohol, and more to make Homemade Lemonade truly your own. Cheers to a classic!

• 2 cups granulated sugar • 4 1/2 cups water, divided, cold • 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice, strained • 5 cups water, divided

Step 1

Add the sugar and 2 cups of water to a saucepan over medium heat and stir to combine.

Step 2

Bring the contents to a boil until the sugar dissolves.

Step 3

Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. You have just created simple syrup.

Step 4

Add the simple syrup to the lemon juice and stir until fully combined.

Step 5

Refrigerate until nice and cold.

Step 6

When ready to serve, add 2 1/2 cups of cold water and stir well. If it's too sweet, you can always add more water.

Step 7

Serve over ice and thinly sliced lemons.
