Takeout? No need! Tonight, you can serve up your Asian-inspired main course! Easy Honey Garlic Chicken features tender chicken coated in sticky, lick-your-fingers 5-ingredient honey garlic. This dish is packed with garlicky flavors, sweet honey, savory soy sauce, and tangy rice wine vinegar. Ingredients• 6 chicken thighs, bone in or out, with or without skin • salt, to taste • pepper, to taste • 2 teaspoons garlic powder • 6 cloves garlic, crushed • 1/3 cup honey • 1/4 cup chicken broth • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar • 1 tablespoon soy sauce • green onions, optional, for serving • sesame seeds, optional, for serving
For oven-baked, bone-in thighs: Preheat oven at 400°F or 200°C. Sear chicken in an ovenproof skillet or pan, skin side down first for 3 minutes. Flip and sear for a further 3 minutes until browned each side. Then bake in the oven for a further 20-25 minutes, until completely cooked through and no longer pink inside. Continue directions from the sauce, onwards.
Season the chicken with the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Heat a pan or skillet over medium-high heat on the stove-top.
Lightly sear the chicken thighs on both sides until golden and cooked through, registering 165 degrees F in its thickest part, about 6-8 minutes per side. If you are using bone-in thighs, reduce your heat after searing on both sides, cover the skillet with a lid, and flip the chicken every 5 minutes to ensure it is cooked evenly.
Drain 3/4 of the excess oil from the pan, leaving the rest to ensure properly moist, and delicious chicken.
Arrange the chicken skin-side up in the pan.
Place the crushed garlic cloves between the chicken, frying for around 30 seconds.
Gently pour in the honey, broth, vinegar, and soy sauce.
Increase the heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the sauce reduces and becomes slightly thick, about 3-4 minutes.
Garnish the honey garlic chicken with the chopped green onions or sesame seeds.
