What's a classic American breakfast without a good gravy? Not quite delicious enough, that's what we say! Country Sausage Gravy is creamy, savory, thick, rich, and meaty, with plenty of breakfast sausage infused into every bite. This is perfect for draping over biscuits, smothering on eggs, or piling on top of potatoes. It only takes 30 minutes or less to make Country Sausage Gravy, so you can make a perfect breakfast in a hurry!

• 1 pound pork breakfast sausage, casings removed • 3 tablespoons butter • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour • 3 cups whole milk

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage until brown and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 2

Reserve 1 tablespoon of the fat in the pan, draining the remainder.

Step 3

Add the butter and stir well until melted.

Step 4

Sprinkle the sausage with the flour, stirring and cooking until the flour absorbs the fat and becomes golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 5

Add the milk while stirring.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to medium.

Step 7

Continue to cook and stir until the gravy thickens, about 5-10 minutes.

Step 8

Serve hot.
