Ingredients
• 1/4 cup espresso beans, finely ground • 3 tablespoons brown sugar • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon • ground cayenne pepper, to taste • salt, to taste • ground black pepper, to taste • 2 (6-ounce) beef tenderloin steaks • 1 tablespoon canola oilDirections
Sift the ground espresso beans, brown sugar, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper together in a bowl.
Generously coat all sides of both steaks with the espresso mixture.
Place the steaks on a plate and refrigerate until the flavors blend together, for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Heat a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the canola oil.
Once the oil is shimmering, add the steaks and cook until the bottom of each steak is browned, about 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
Flip the steaks.
Place the skillet in the oven.
Roast the steaks until they reach the desired doneness, 135 degrees F for medium-rare, about 4-5 minutes.
Transfer the skillet from the oven and tent with aluminum foil and let the steaks rest for 5 minutes.
Serve.
