Ingredients• 1/3 cup onion, finely chopped • 1 tablespoon butter • 3 cups bread, day-old, cubed, with crusts removed • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder • 1/8 teaspoon salt • 1/8 teaspoon pepper • 1 large egg, lightly beaten • 10 strips bacon
In a small skillet, sauté the onion in the butter over medium heat until tender, about 5 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, celery salt, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and sautéed onion, tossing to mix evenly.
Add the egg, tossing to coat the bread cubes.
Roll the mixture into ten 1-1/4-inch balls.
Wrap a bacon strip around each ball, securing them with a toothpick.
In a large skillet, cook the bacon roll-ups on all sides over medium heat until the bacon is crisp and a thermometer inserted into the stuffing reads at least 160 degrees F, about 18 minutes.
Drain on paper towels.
