Best Arnold Palmer

Arnold Palmers are also sometimes called half-and-halfs, but they're more than halfway decent; they're delicious! The Best Arnold Palmer is a truly refreshing drink perfect for coming off the golf links: with the citrus tang of lemonade and the deep maltiness and caramel notes of black tea, the Best Arnold Palmer is just the right balance of sweet, tart, and brisk. You can even call this brew a birdie!


For the lemonade: • 3 cups water, divided • 3/4 cup granulated sugar • juice of 6 large lemons For the tea: • 4 cups water • 1/3 cup honey • 5 black tea bags • ice, enough to fill glasses • fresh mint, optional, for garnish • lemon wedges, optional, for garnish


Step 1

In a small pot over medium heat, bring 1 cup of water and the sugar to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Let boil for 2 minutes.

Step 2

Let the syrup cool to room temperature.

Step 3

Combine the syrup, 2 cups water, and lemon juice.

Step 4

In a medium pot over medium-high heat, heat the remaining water to a boil.

Step 5

Add the honey and stir to dissolve.

Step 6

Turn off the heat and add the tea bags.

Step 7

Let the tea steep for 5 minutes.

Step 8

Let the tea cool to room temperature.

Step 9

In a large pitcher, combine the lemonade and tea.

Step 10

Fill serving glasses with ice.

Step 11

Pour the Arnold Palmers into the glasses.

Step 12

Garnish with mint and lemon wedges.
