Baked Cheesy Chicken Breasts sound amazing just by their name alone. But they even sound delicious as you eat them: the cheesy, buttery crust is crunchy beyond belief. Within that crust is tender chicken blending beautifully with the sharp, nutty flavors of cheddar and parmesan. Baked Cheesy Chicken Breasts is the kind of main course that will get you leaning back in your chair with a happy sigh... and thinking about the next time you can make them!
Ingredients• 1 cup breadcrumbs, plain • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder • 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless • salt, to taste • black pepper, to taste
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
In a low, shallow dish combine the breadcrumbs and the cheddar and parmesan cheeses.
In a small pan over the stove-top on medium-low heat, melt the butter.
Add the onion and garlic powders to the melted butter and mix thoroughly.
Transfer the butter mixture to a second low, shallow dish.
Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
Coat the chicken in the butter mixture on all sides, then press them into the breadcrumb mixture until completely covered.
Place the breadcrumb-covered chicken in the greased casserole dish.
Sprinkle the top of the chicken with any excess breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to help them adhere.
Drizzle any excess butter mixture over the chicken.
Bake until the chicken is cooked to 165 degrees F at its thickest point, about 35-45 minutes.
